(P1) Rider-Operated Pivot Steer Forklift
This course is perfect for NOVICE or REFRESHERS to learn how to safely and effectively operate a Pivot Steer (bendy) forklift.

Aim
The aim of this course is to provide candidates with the knowledge and practical skills required to safely and efficiently operate a counterbalance forklift truck in line with standards and current UK legislation.
The course is designed to:
- Promote a strong safety culture in the workplace
- Reduce the risk of accidents, injury, and damage
- Ensure operators understand their legal responsibilities
- Develop competent and confident forklift operators
Objectives
By the end of the course, candidates will be able to:
Knowledge-Based Objectives
- Describe operator responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974
- Explain the requirements of Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998
- Understand forklift stability, including centre of gravity and load dynamics
- Identify hazards associated with forklift operations
Practical Skill Objectives
- Conduct a pre-use inspection and report defects
- Operate the forklift truck safely and correctly
- Manoeuvre in confined spaces and workplace environments
- Pick up, transport, stack, and de-stack loads safely
Behavioural Objectives
- Demonstrate safe working practices at all times
- Maintain awareness of pedestrians and hazards
- Follow site rules and safe systems of work
- Take responsibility for their own actions and safety
Assessment Objectives
Demonstrate competence to operate a counterbalance forklift safely
Pass the theory assessment
Successfully complete the practical skills test
